Sewing classes

For teens and children

Price range: €70.00 through €85.00

6 week course January-February 2026

Dates; Wednesdays 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th January, 4th, 11th February

3pm-4pm 8-12 year old

4.30pm-5.30pm 12 year +

The course will be held in the Killaloe area.

Suitable for beginners and improvers

This course will be aimed at honing our sewing skills (both machine and hand stitching) with a recycling ethos, where we will focus on creating a patchwork length with found fabrics at home, etc which will be used for a product. I will incorporate hand sewing into the project to offer another form of working. It is also a more relaxed and mindful practice.

The course will include;

Threading and troubleshooting sewing machine and needles, controlling and best practice on machine, cutting and measurement skills, how to use an iron, press and finish a product, cloth and thread qualities, hand stitching , using templates. They will also learn about colour contrast and patchwork design composition.

Bring your own sewing machine €70

About Lynn;

Lynn has 28years of teaching and faciliatating creative subjects in various educational settings; primary, secondary, adult education and 3rd level education. She has a Degree from NCAD in contemporary embroidery, a Hdip in adult and community education and a certificate in art and wellbeing from Crawford college, Cork. She is currently undertaking a masters in art and engagement. Lynn is garda vetted and has completed  ‘Introduction to children first’ training.

She is passionate about passing down the skill of sewing. Looking back, hand sewing and in particular patchwork was a creative outlet, a well being practice for her when she was growing up. It kept her out of trouble!!!
